Why Mutt Matchers & Friends?
Every year, Mohave County kills between 6000 and 8000 animals. Why? Because it has no choice. But now there is a choice, one each of us can make today. Mutt Matchers & Friends has created an adoption center to rescue adoptable dogs from euthanasia. We can't save all 8000, but we can save hundreds by rescuing and placing wonderful dogs in loving homes. Mutt Matchers & Friends Adoption Center is unique. We take no animals from the public, just the best carefully selected dogs that we can save. Our dogs are nurtured, and have the best care we possibly can give. Our rescue center is the best "transition home" until that certain "forever home" comes along. We furnish shots, microchipping, and spay and neutering. We are located at 1001 Buchanan Street in Kingman, Arizona. (Mailing address is P.O. Box 766, Kingman, AZ 86402, please send any donations to our mailing address!)

Bandit visited the Hualapai elementary school in Kingman
Bandit visited the Hualapai elementary school in Kingman, where he was the most popular doggie with approximately 80 second graders and a kindergarten class. This is one of Mutt Matchers & Friends community outreach programs to teach little ones safety around dogs. We also remind them to always keep fresh water for them especially in the summer heat. They are shown how to pet a dog after asking permission from the owner the proper way, and we remind them to always walk their dogs on a leash. This teaches them to take proper precautions with the dogs, and also to obey the leash law. Bandit is 5 years old, great with kids, and is available for adoption.
SPOT - Stop Pet Overpopulation Together
ATTENTION! Mutt Matchers & Friends announces our newest and most ambitious community outreach program yet -- SPOT -- Stop Pet Overpopulation Together. Donations have made it possible to begin the program which offers FREE spaying & neutering to dog owners in the greater Kingman, AZ area only, who meet the financial criteria. Only on-going donations will enable us to continue to reduce the severe over population in Kingman, or even expand to the rest of Mohave county at a later point, and possibly enable us to include cats. Please be part of the solution! Donations can be mailed to Mutt Matchers & Friends, ATTN: SPOT Program, P.O. Box 766, Kingman, AZ 86402. The printable version of the application and instructions can be found on this website - click on the SPOT Application.

WE FIND ADOPTABLE,HOMELESSDOGS THEIR FOREVER HOMES!
Mutt Matchers & Friends has been in operation since November 1st, 2005. Our facility has always had procedures and policies in place. When we rescue our adoptable homeless dogs from a shelter, we use experienced evaluators. Two evaluators check out each and every dog for temperament, non-agressiveness to either humans, other dogs, and cats, and all around adoptability. We carefully check their teeth, ears, paws, and any possible external medical problems that they can foresee as a problem. If the dog passes our 220 point evaluation by a minimum score of 176, we consider the dog adoptable, and we bring it to our center. At that point, we immediately call our veterinarian and make an appointment for a health check, rabies shot, and spay/neuter if required. We also mannerize and socialize our pups on a daily basis. Our dogs have a beautiful play yard, with people and other dog interaction. We also have indoor kennel runs for their comfort at night. They have both cooling in the summer and heat in the winter. No dog leaves our center for adoption without being spayed/neutered, up to date vaccinations, and microchipping. We carefully interview and screen any prospective adopters and their families to ensure our rescued dogs will indeed go to their "forever homes".
We also are involved in our community. We have a Care 'n' Share program that is wholly dependent on the public. If we get donations of dog and cat food, we "share" it with our lesser fortunate dog and cat owners who have fallen upon hard times. We also have a Pound Pal group who at times bring our well behaved dogs to nursing homes, and schools. We also provide information and guidance to any dog owners on dog care, behavior problems possible medical problems (we immediately tell them to call their veterinarian) etc., whenever they call us. We also have a SPOT program in place for our community. Information on this is also on our home page.
We update our website for our adoptable dogs usually once a month. For more current adoptable dogs, please go to www.petfinder.com or www.1800saveapet.org Those websites are updated once a week with any new dogs that are available for adoption at our center.
